San Rafael Merlot, Central Valley, Chile 2003. San Rafael's rolling hills are at the foot of the Andes mountains and are blessed with a perfect climate for vine grapes with long dry summers and cool nights. This Merlot has a deep ruby colour. The red fruit nose also has hints of herb and mint. The taste is round and warming, with cherry and raspberry characters. £3.50 £4.50 £12.95

The Leith Claret B.B. Bordeaux N.V. 60 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, making a very accessible wine with a wide range of berried fruit notes and soft velvet tannins. Good concentration of fruit leads to a wine that can be drunk easily. £16.95

Primitivo Terragnolo, Apollonio 2000. From the same grape as California's Zinfandel, this wine is full of character, deep red in colour with an intensely spicy bouquet and ripe berry fruit flavours. £17.95
Amarone della Valpolicella D.O.C., Speri 1998. The taste is dry, full, majestic and richly velvety. An aristocratic wine, the Amarone is a great accompaniment to elaborate dishes of noble meats as well as sapid aged cheeses. £32.00

Kaapzicht Chenin Blanc, Stellenbosch 2003. A medium-bodied dry Chenin from a family-owned & run estate on the outskirts of Stellenbosch in the sunny cape winelands. Chenin needs to be carefully cropped otherwise it loses its nice, rich fruity flavour & because this is a small estate, they manage to keep their eyes firmly on the ball. Unoaked ! £16.50
McGregor Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2002. A fine example that displays ripe, tropical fruit with a soft creaminess of oak. The Scottish links depicted on the label originate from the village named after the Rev. Andrew McGregor from Stirlingshire who settled and ministered in the Robertson district. £17.50
Weltevrede Gewürztraminer Est.B. Robertson 2003. Unusual grape variety from the Cape. Rose petal bouquet, smooth and harmoniousAn ideal wine for those who do not like their wine either too dry or too sweet. £18.50
John Martin Sauvignon Blanc, Backsberg Estate 2003. A specially crafted cuvee selected on the basis of varietal intensity and character. Aromas of cape gooseberry, citrus blossom and grass abound. A small portion fermented in French oak barriques provides a spicy and uncommon complexity for this Sauvignon Blanc varietal. £25.00

Kaapzicht Pinotage, Stellenbosch 2001. Opaque, dark plum colour with a purple edge and juicy ripe flavours. Very typically South African. £18.75
Klein Gustrouw Cabernet Merlot, Stellenbosch. That very rare find in South Africa, a rich, sweetly fruited wine which has the structure and acidity to contrast with, and to complement its fullness - an excellent wine. £25.00
Barefoot Pinot Noir, Coastal Region 2001. Very limited production. This wine has a stunning aroma you could sniff for hours. Fleshy and smooth berry fruit with a tweak of acidity - oak plus hints of a smoky, coffee flavour - your taste buds will beg for more. £29.95

Araucano Sauvignon Blanc, Lontue Valley, J&F Lurton. Highly aromatic with intense aromas of tropical fruit on the nose including mango and papaya. It is very good on the palate with fresh acidity and a long, flavourful aftertaste. £19.95

Norte Chico Merlot 2002. Soft, smooth and deliciously flavoured, this is the wine that the Chilean climate was made to produce. A very easy-drinking wine. £16.75
Montes Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Colchagua Valley 2002. Made from very old vines and allowed to mature for two years before oak ageing. Ruby red with mature berry fruit, a soft mint finish and very spicy. £18.50
Montes Reserve Malbec, Oak Aged, Colchagua Valley 2003. Unusual grape variety for Chile - smooth and full of blackberry fruitiness. Highly recommended. £18.50

Hellfire Bay Grenache~Shiraz,Western Australia 2002. One of the most luscious, full-fruited Australian red wines you will encounter. The red berry flavours are matched on the palate by a light spiciness. £17.75
Lennard's Crossing Petite Verdot, S. E. Australia 1999. Petite Verdot is a grape variety largely forgotten by the French which has been revived in Australia. Modern wine making techniques coupled with oak maturation give a full-bodied, very richly flavoured wine with intense fruit and subtle spice. £18.25
Two Hands Angel's Share Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2002. A wonderful new wine. Aromas of dark plums and blackberry fruits, the palate shows rich mulberry fruit and chocolate with warm spices. £29.50
